Mediavine vs Raptive vs Ezoic vs Journey: Requirements, RPM & Real Publisher Data

Nov 4, 2026PublisherAtlas Team

Comparing the four premium display ad networks: entry requirements, real publisher counts, traffic and revenue data from 30,060 sites — plus which network fits your traffic level.

Every content site eventually faces the same question: which display ad network should I apply to? The sales pages all promise premium RPMs. What's missing is data about the sites actually inside each network.

We compiled the publicly published seller lists of all four major premium networks — Mediavine, Raptive (formerly AdThrive), Journey by Mediavine, and Ezoic — into one dataset of 30,060 publishers, then enriched every site with traffic, authority, and model-based revenue estimates. Here's how the four really compare.

Requirements below are each network's publicly stated bars — always confirm on their official pages before applying.

Requirements at a glance

| Network | Published bar | Typical fit | | -------------------- | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------ | | Raptive (AdThrive) | 100,000 pageviews/mo | Established sites with strong organic base | | Mediavine | 50,000 sessions/mo | Full-time-quality content sites | | Journey by Mediavine | 10,000 sessions/mo | Growing sites not yet at Mediavine's bar | | Ezoic | No hard minimum | Any traffic level; AI-optimized testing |

The four networks form a ladder, not rivals. Most sites climb it: Ezoic or Journey early → Mediavine at ~50k sessions → Raptive at 100k+ pageviews. Switching costs exist but are modest; the networks' seller lists tell you exactly how many sites sit on each rung.

What 30,060 publishers reveal about each network

| Metric (median) | Raptive | Mediavine | Journey | Ezoic | | ------------------ | ------- | --------- | ------- | ----- | | Publishers in pool | 6,835 | 8,732 | 7,634 | 6,859 | | Monthly visits | 39,718 | 18,704 | 4,069 | 3,551 | | Domain Rating | 38 | 32 | 8 | 12 | | Est. revenue/mo | $1,796 | $676 | $46 | $34 |

Reading the medians:

  • Raptive's median site earns ~$1,796/month on ~40k visits. Raptive is famously selective, and its pool shows it: the highest traffic, the highest authority, the highest earnings.
  • Mediavine's median site earns ~$676/month on ~19k visits. Mediavine hosts the largest pool (8,732 publishers) and has become the de-facto home of food, lifestyle and crafts content.
  • Journey and Ezoic medians are modest ($34–46) — but that's the point. These are entry tiers. Their pools are full of 18-month-old sites on the way up.

Earnings beyond the medians

Medians describe the middle; the distribution is where planning happens. Across all 30,060 sites (estimates, not reported earnings):

  • 29% clear $1,000/month in display revenue
  • 10.5% clear $5,000/month
  • 6% clear $10,000/month
  • 1.6% clear $50,000/month

And at every network's entry tier, outliers exist: jobcountry.io (DR 2, est. ~$298k/mo) and gamestegy.com (DR 13, est. ~$91k/mo) both started well below any premium bar. The ladder is climbable, and quickly, for sites that hit a real search intent.

RPM reality check

One caution the data supports: RPMs are not comparable across networks — they're a product of traffic volume, visitor geography, and niche. 69% of premium publishers draw their top audience from the US, and US-first sites earn multiples of global-average rates. Two sites with identical visits can land on wildly different earnings. When you compare yourself to "a Mediavine site," compare geography and niche too, not just traffic.

Which network should you choose?

Under 10k sessions/month — Ezoic or Journey. Both accept you now. Ezoic's AI testing suits data-minded builders; Journey offers Mediavine's playbook at entry scale. Expect modest earnings ($34–46 medians) and treat this phase as optimization practice.

10k–50k sessions — Journey, or start a Mediavine application. You're inside Mediavine's funnel. Use this window to strengthen content depth and US-audience share.

50k+ sessions — Mediavine. The classic choice for content sites; the pool's median ($676) understates what a US-heavy food or lifestyle site at this level typically does.

100k+ pageviews with strong organic base — Raptive. The premium tier, and the numbers back it: $1,796 median across 6,835 sites.
